Again

Again

by C.S. Fuqua (Lyrics/Music © 2008)

Under skies that once were blue,

shielded eyes ignore the receding view.

We claim we’re doing all we can,

but refuse the truth, set the self-destruct again.

What was green has all turned brown

as the politicians go round and round.

Join in the circle dance in the sand

for it’s a desert world lying close at hand again.

Ignore the signs time and again

for when we’re young, our voices blow in the wind.

We love our comfort now as we grow old.

High on consumption, it’s our souls we’ve sold again.

We watched the last bird fly low on the wing,

said surely it’s not quite as bad as it seems.

Then the shorelines all disappeared,

and we turned and ran in blind fear again.

Heed the voices that ride the wind.

Does wisdom exist to take a stand?

All the sidelines have eroded away.

Can’t turn our backs, can’t run away again.

Join in the circle dance in the sand,

for it’s a desert world lying close at hand.

We claim we’re doing all that we can.

Like nuclear nightmare, set self-destruct again.
